ReplyDeleteI agree, that song pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, are supposed post the answer to the question here?
Hello! ANSWER THE BLOG QUESTION ABOVE!
ReplyDeleteI think Josephus was the most important witness because maybe he wasnt Christian so he had no real reason to accept the historical reality of Jesus yet he still wrote about him so there had to be some basis. He wrote what he saw and believed and that's what made him the most important witness.
ReplyDeleteJosephus hadn't mention if he was a follower of Jesus, but he wrote on what he heard about this man called Jesus. Jesus started new disturbances while he lived and people started to believe him or just think he was outright wrong and wanted to overturn the nation. However, Josephus, the best witness to the historical Jesus, recognized that Jesus was in fact a historical. Josephus thought that Jesus had impacted all the people he talked to and saw, which made people start to believe in Jesus, whether historical or Jesus of faith.

ReplyDeleteJosephus was so important because when the Roman sources tacitus, pliny the younger, and suetonius
ReplyDeletewhere saying things about Jesus they were all something bad or an accusation about jesus. Josephus believed that Jesus was an important person in history, and was a wise man even tho he wasnt a follower of Jesus
I think Josephus was the most important witness because he wrote what really happened. Even thought he wasn't a Christian he speaks highly of Jesus calling him "a wise man, a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of men." Josephus recognized Jesus as a historical figure because of his powerful impact on people.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Victoria's answer, it was very well written.
I think Josephus was an important witness to (historical)Jesus becuse he did not state that he was a follower meaning that his writings would have been most likely unbiased. All Josephus wrote is that there were disturbances about a man named Jesus who was wise and did wonderful works.
ReplyDeleteJosephus was the most important witness to the historical Jesus. Josephus was a non-Christian, so none of his writings could have been biased. He only wrote on what he saw and believed, as Victoria said. Some historians doubt Tacitus and his writings, and while Pliny the Younger mentions Jesus, he offers no new information about Jesus. Josephus is the only one who had reliable information on Jesus.
ReplyDeleteAlthough Josephus was a non-Christian, he truly respected Jesus. This demonstrates how even someone of different beliefs saw the true impact that the historical Jesus had on the people he encountered during that time. Josephus may not have fully accepted Jesus however he did recognize Jesus as a historic legend of this time period.
ReplyDeleteJustin...very good insight.
ReplyDeleteAs a Jew, was Josephus likely to admit that Jesus was a worker of wonders?
ReplyDeleteWho did Josephus work for? Could this also be a clue/
ReplyDeleteI agree with Steven on the basis that even though Josephus was not a follower of Jesus, he did have great respect for him. He saw the significance that Jesus had on history, and didn't turn a blind eye to him. He viewed Jesus as an extremely powerful historical figure that would not be soon forgotten.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mr. Bauer.
ReplyDeleteJosephus was an important witness to the historical Jesus because he used an objective point of view which history should be written. He doesn't let his ideals and concerns affect history itself. People see him as a Messiah doing great works but to Josephus he is just a great historical figure.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Victoria, Josephus was very important he didn't concider himself a diciple of Jesus or really a follower for that matter. From his writtings I think he liked Jesus because he didn't really put him down. He wrote by word of mouth he didn't acctually know Jesus. He wasn't really Christian so he knew a little bit about Him. But he did speak quite highly of his works.
ReplyDeleteJustin is absolutly correct!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Caitlin. I agree that he did like Jesus because he didn't really put him down.
ReplyDeleteGood posts everyone, especially Victoria i agree with you. Even though Josephus was a non Christian he still wrote down the truth about what happened. He could have made Jesus seem like a bad person for everything he was doing but Josephus was honest and spoke the truth.
ReplyDeleteEven though Josephus is a Jew he writes how Jesus is a doer of wonderful works, which might show that the miracles that are said to have taken place in the Bible may be true.
ReplyDeleteJosephus seemed to admire Jesus even if he was a non Christian. He chose to write good things about him and acknowledged the fact that Jesus had a great impact on people.
ReplyDeleteGood point! if someone who is a non- christian is writing about Jesus' wonderful works then there is a very good possiblity its true that miracles could have taken place.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Matt, he was a non-Christian that didn't need to believe in Jesus. But he admired him enough to call him a "wise man" and a "doer of wonderful works", just as Judicaelle mentioned. There must be a reason why he called him those names. I think it was because of how he looked upon Jesus as a leader to his followers. Josephus was interested enough that he even mentioned his crucifixion and didn't realize that Jesus was a historical person that gave a big impact on many people. Even though he didn't accept Jesus, it's important that he admired him so much to even mention him in his writings.
ReplyDeleteJosephus's writings of Jesus is vital because it simpley proves that Jesus exists. All other documents and sciptures written down by Catholic Church could simply have been falsely distributed by the them to in order to gain followers. Having a document written by some one who doesn't accept him, but acknowledges his existance helps prove that Jesus could have existed at a certain point of time.
ReplyDeleteAs everybody has mentioned, Josephus is a non-Christian who didnt have to believe in Jesus but he did. This proves that Jesus is a real person because without real proof, Josephus would probably not belive nor mention Jesus in any of his writings. He even mentioned the crusifiction of Jesus proving that he is a real person
ReplyDeleteJosephus was an important person in history because he wrote positive stories about Jesus and he was not even Christian.
ReplyDeletei think justin is totally right just becuase josephus' information was this that accurate
